I've noticed that there are little to no electrically powered aircraft out there. I'm trying to design an aircraft myself, so I was wondering: is an aircraft powered by an electric motor feasible, or is it too costly or without enough power to properly lift an aircraft?

Also, is it possible to use an alternator/magneto combination to keep a battery/ motor combination with a full charge during the flight?
