That was new to me either and doesn't coincide with my experience. But they also say the B747 is the Jumbo Jet whereas the others have prefixes (like super- and mini-). Btw: Joe Sutter - the 747's father - died only 6 months ago (Aug 2016) at the age of 95. I've read he didn't like the name "Jumbo" for "his" plane, but I cannot find any evidence right now. | |
