Mar 6, 2019 at 0:06 comment added StephenS Is the stated funding per year, one-time, or something else? Is there a different amount for capital costs? The school may be willing to spend more than its usual limit to buy a durable asset, which they could sell if the club failed, as long as the operating expenses (e.g. maintenance and insurance) fell within that budget. They might even realize they could use said plane themselves to save other travel costs.

Jul 13, 2017 at 14:45 comment added Pondlife It's difficult to answer this well. #1 depends at least partly on your school and its requirements for funding a club. #2 is more about publicizing a club in a university environment than about aviation. #3 is entirely subjective. I'd start with the AOPA resources and use them as a kind of checklist to make sure you've thought about everything. But you'll have to apply that to your own situation. You might also consider asking on academia.SE about general considerations around creating and publicizing school clubs.

Jul 13, 2017 at 14:29 comment added Ron Beyer That is why it is a comment, not an answer... I guess it would help if I knew what you mean by "implications"? The first question is difficult to answer without knowing what you mean? Academic implications? Legal? Social?...
Jul 13, 2017 at 14:27 comment added WillSimon Not exactly the answer I was looking for :) Implications could concievably include rental agreements with local rental agencies, as well as safety requirements that may be required by an institution.
Jul 13, 2017 at 14:21 comment added Ron Beyer If you aren't owning an airplane, then the "implications" are few. Just do it.
Jul 13, 2017 at 14:08 comment added WillSimon Group of people, flying common destinations, etc.
Jul 13, 2017 at 13:58 comment added Ron Beyer By "flying club" do you mean actually owning an airplane, or just a group of people interested in aviation?
