Jul 4, 2017 at 3:12 comment added Brad @Canuk No, I lucked out and found a logbook that I thought was lost in a move which has my spin endorsement from 14 years ago. I was about to go up in a t-28 trojan to do my spins, but found my logbook. You "might" fit in one of those, but I'm not sure at your height.
Jul 3, 2017 at 2:55 comment added Canuk @Brad did you ever solve this? I am in a similar situation (aviation.stackexchange.com/questions/31755/…) but I think I have found a place in Fullerton, California that can accommodate me.
Feb 14, 2017 at 21:34 comment added Brad The "P" Model has a higher Utility class weight than the other models that I've looked at. The "S and R" models I will be outside of the utility class in with most instructors.

Feb 13, 2017 at 23:07 comment added J W I second what @Pondlife said: certainly the C172 M and R models are also spin approved. Just looked up the data for the C172M that I flew most recently and it would be in the utility category with 20 gals of fuel (2.5 hrs), 280 in the left seat, and 130 in the right seat. I'm sure many similar aircraft are out there.
Feb 13, 2017 at 21:22 comment added Pondlife AFAIK, all C172s are approved for spins. The N-S models are, and I randomly checked an older H model POH and it is too. Always in the utility category, of course, and subject to what the operator, insurance, club rules etc. allow. Those things are probably a bigger issue than finding a C172, but you also have to find one that you can load and stay in the utility category, of course. Every aircraft is slightly different.

Feb 13, 2017 at 21:15 comment added Dave This place has an Extra 300 which should have enough UL for you and an instructor and be fine to spin.
