In essence, tandem rotors remove the need to use some engine power (which can be significant) to drive a tail rotor, since the torque reaction of the rotors cancel each other, meaning more power for creating lift. They also have a much wider longitudanal range for the CofG envelope making them great for shifting cargo. | |
