I have been listening to commercial aircraft take, fly, and land for years. To this day, I love visiting Philadelphia International airport, parking near Fort Mifflin, with my dog in the back, and my scanner and binoculars. Sometimes they use runway 35 which the aircraft flies right over your head. Almost feels like you can touch their belly. I am getting to the point where I want to know exactly all what the tower and pilot are saying to each other. I have figured out that the taxiways are lettered which is were the get the wiskey, papa, tango stuff. But today I am looking into understanding the directional heading all commercial aircraft get. I finally realized they are flying in different directions. Obviously they have to considering some aircraft move faster than others. But because they talk so fast it is hard to understand what they say. Well I'm trying, a great hobby that has served me well for years. What a high to watch them take off and land and listen to the sounds of those JET ENGINES!!!!
