I'm asking about the slight turn off of runway heading on Obstacle Departure Procedures (ODPs) that are sometimes textual or graphical and simply say "Climb heading 305 degrees...," but runway heading is like 311 degrees. I've looked at several ODPs and none say to climb to a certain altitude before making that initial heading change. I also read the FAA instrument flying manual and didn't find any guidance on this. The way its depicted on the graphical ODPs it appears that you make the adjustment when you are over the end of the runway, but I'd like to know if there is something official from FAA on when to change from runway heading to the initial heading of the ODP.
