# Do modern airliners have a higher Gust Load Limit than an older airliner of the 50's or 60's?

I ask this because the BAC 1-11 had a Gust Load Limit of ~66 fps, and it had a structural failure in a thunderstorm. Many websites say aircraft design has improved since then, so has the Gust Load Limit been changed, and if so, to what?
