Aviation goes step by step toward birds! When we cut tail rudder, use bell lift distribution and make aeroelastic wings we will become birds!:)

What stop industry for switch to aeroelastic desing, materials?

  • $\begingroup$ Have you ever ridden on a 787 and watched the carbon wings flap up and down in the bumps? Pretty aerolastic-y. $\endgroup$ – John K Jul 26 at 19:47
  • $\begingroup$ @JohnK,no I am afraid of flight,I just once flight in two person plane..This is flex in wingspan direction, aeroelastic wing have lots of flex in chord direction. $\endgroup$ – Noah Prandtl Jul 26 at 20:02

$\begingroup$ We're some years away from creating a practical wing structure that can morph like that and be certifiable. It's a very conservative industry due to safety requirements and radical concepts can take decades to be proven. $\endgroup$ – John K Jul 26 at 22:28

$\begingroup$ You are afraid of flying and you are asking why we are not using untested, unproven, experimental designs? $\endgroup$ – Jörg W Mittag Jul 27 at 6:09
  • $\begingroup$ Yes,I dont belive engines and electricity..Planes never fall because of aerodynamics. $\endgroup$ – Noah Prandtl Jul 27 at 15:31
