Can someone please tell me where to buy aviation headset jack adapter? Audio-out is 1/4", Mic-in is 0.206" (I think). New-fangled (laptop) receptacles are all 3.5 mm single in-out. Thanks.

  • $\begingroup$ Monoprice had the audio out adapters. I have never been able to find an audio in adapter. monoprice.com/product?p_id=7135 $\endgroup$ – JScarry Feb 10 at 17:56
  • $\begingroup$ OK, thanks, that's 1/2 of the problem, the audio problem. Ideally, I'm looking for 2-old-into-1-new (audio+mic). Thanks for helping! $\endgroup$ – user9943887 Feb 10 at 17:57

Headsets have two plugs - the larger one has 2 contacts, the smaller has 4. I have mono headset (old David Clarks), stereo may have more. Laptop will have 3: left, right, common.

Best bet is probably real airplane jacks, and then wire to whatever the laptop needs

  • $\begingroup$ Yes, exactly. But I can't believe someone hasn't "productized" your solution, given how common this is. Thanks for your input! $\endgroup$ – user9943887 Feb 10 at 18:00
  • $\begingroup$ My 'phones aren't THAT old -- basically 2012-David-Clark-ripoffs. There must be a modern solution SOMEWHERE! :-) $\endgroup$ – user9943887 Feb 10 at 18:02
  • $\begingroup$ Why would I use Aviation headsets on a laptop? Most of the time they are sitting in my plane. I just happened to have them at home while the plane is being repainted. $\endgroup$ – CrossRoads Feb 10 at 18:43
  • $\begingroup$ Very nice. But I don't have my own plane. It's basically a $$$ thing. $\endgroup$ – user9943887 Feb 10 at 18:55

    $\begingroup$ OK. It's a "shopping" question. I withdraw. Sorry about that. $\endgroup$ – user9943887 Feb 10 at 18:59
